Dog Food Allergies

Do you have a dog who constantly scratches, has unexplained hair loss or sores? Your dog may have a dog food allergy. It’s no fun living with a pet who farts and scratches all night. But neither is it any fun for him either.

You owe it to your pet to find out what may be causing the problem and solve it.

Dog Food Allergies affect dogs and it’s due to their diet. These are some Common dog food allergies which symptoms are:

  • Excessive Scratching
  • Sores
  • Foot, Leg and tail chewing
  • Head Shaking
  • Hair loss
  • Face rubbing
  • Anal itching
  • Recurring ear problems
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Flatulence
  • Sneezing
  • Asthma like symptoms
  • Seizures
  • Behavior changes

These can occur at any time. There is some chemical or food that upsets the dogs system and causes problems. It can be a commercial dog food that you buy in the store or it can be a homemade dog food that you make. The dog allergy or sensitivity to his food is most likely to be caused by the chemicals in the food.

There is an old wives tale that says the dog must eat the same thing everyday. Many people think this is a wrong idea. Dogs need a variety in their diet.

The most common is dog food allergies skin problems. Many over-look these problems thinking that is mange. If your dog is constantly scratching then it might be something else. It may be his food. It might even be fleas or ticks.

It might be time to look into getting him some hypoallergenic dog food. It’s never wise just to change your dogs food for something else. It must be introduced slowly into his diet. So he can adjust to it. This is why treating these problems takes forever.

There are many dog allergy dog food products out there. You can consult with your vet and select the right one for your dog. Dog food allergies treatment is one way to find out what is causing the problem.

You must make sure that the dog eats nothing but the food that you prepare for him. If you cook rabbit and rice for your dog you must switch one of the ingredients for something else like hamburger and rice. Watch and wait and see if the symptoms go away. If not switch out the rice for something else. Continue to do this until you hit the right foods your dog can eat.

It is thought that the more variety you give your dog, the less he will suffer from these symptoms.
